Phil Pressey from Missouri has been selected for StatSheet's SEC Player of the Week for January 7th. Kentucky's Nerlens Noel has won StatSheet's SEC Freshman of the Week. And last but certainly not least, Tennessee's Jordan McRae is the StatSheet SEC 6th Man of the Week. Pressey put up great stats in rebounding (3 per game), shooting (50%), and three pointers (3 per game). The Missouri junior put these numbers up in a victory versus Bucknell.
This is the first StatSheet SEC Player of the Week award for Phil Pressey. However, he has been named a runner-up once. The runner-up this week is our own Colin Borchert. Honorable mention goes to junior Jordan McRae from Tennessee.
StatSheet SEC Freshman of the Week: Kentucky's Nerlens Noel
Nerlens Noel was on the floor for 32 minutes while starting the only game for Kentucky. In a 90-38 waxing of Eastern Michigan, Noel contributed 8 points and 13 rebounds.
This marks the first time this season that Nerlens Noel has won the StatSheet SEC Freshman of the Week. Willie Cauley-Stein from Kentucky gets runner-up. Our own Fred Thomas receives honorable mention.
StatSheet SEC 6th Man of the Week: Tennessee's Jordan McRae
Junior Jordan McRae, a 6-5 reserve forward, played 31 minutes during a lone game for the Volunteers. In an 85-80 loss to Memphis, McRae led the scoring for the Volunteers with 26 points and also added 4 assists.
This is Jordan McRae's first StatSheet SEC 6th Man of the Week award this season. Anthony Hickey, a sophomore guard from LSU, is the runner up. Our own Jalen Steele receives honorable mention. Mississippi State has yet to win StatSheet SEC Player of the Week.
