Mississippi State Slips with Loss to Ole Miss 78-66

Mississippi State faced off with Ole Miss on Thursday, Mar. 13 and was clipped by the Rebels 78-66 in conference play. The loss evens the season series between the two teams at 1-1. The Bulldogs were paced by Craig Sword, who put up 16 points and eight rebounds. Fred Thomas got 16 points and added two rebounds.

Mississippi State got a victory on the road against Vanderbilt 82-68 in SEC play on Wednesday, Mar. 12. Craig Sword had an impressive game for the Bulldogs and got a game-high 20 points and six assists (4 Reb 3 Stl). Roquez Johnson had 18 points and added five rebounds. With two outings that included a team season high in scoring, T.J. Warren, a 6-8 sophomore from NC State, has won the StatSheet NCAA Player of the Week. StatSheet's NCAA Freshman of the Week is Devin Williams from West Virginia and StatSheet's NCAA 6th Man of the Week is Marquette's Todd Mayo.

Mississippi State Downed by South Carolina 74-62

Mississippi State allowed 30 points from three-point territory to South Carolina and lost at home against the Gamecocks 74-62 in conference play on Saturday, Mar. 8. The Bulldogs got a good effort from Craig Sword, who put up a team-high 19 points and six rebounds. Fred Thomas had 15 points. Sindarius Thornwell registered a double-double for the Gamecocks with 22 points and 11 rebounds.
